Heritage Open Days

Group visits

The Heritage Open Days festival returns to Coventry for its 25th year, and St. Mary's Guildhall is proud to join in once again to celebrate this city's wonderful heritage. All the usual rooms will be open for visitors to enjoy over the weekend, but as a special treat there are added attractions to enjoy across the two days

Saturday 21 September, 10:00am to 4:00pm

  • Courtyard - Historic music specialists Blast from the Past will be bringing the sound of medieval England to the Guildhall, and chatting about some of their unusual instruments
  • Muniment Room and Old Court - What treasures lie beneath your feet? Members of the Midlands Federation of Metal Detector Clubs will be showing off their finds, unearthed from around the region, chatting about their hobby and offering an identification service for anything you want to bring in
  • Great Hall -The Heritage Bakehouse will be on hand to talk about the long-forgotten historic recipes they've revived from Coventry and Warwickshire, including the famous Coventry Godcake and Corporation Custard (with an opportunity to buy, of course)
  • Undercroft - Drop into the  medieval Undercroft cafe for scrumptious snacks in this unique space
