Wedding ceremony in the Great Hall

Wedding ceremony in the Great Hall

St. Mary's Guildhall presents a wonderful setting for civil ceremonies, and is available for ceremony only events. We are delighted to offer you a choice of three distinctive licensed venues: The Great Hall, the Undercroft and the Drapers' Room. Please see our picture gallery for more images of our venues.

The Great Hall

Beneath a ceiling of carved medieval angels, bathed in the colourful light from beautiful stained glass windows, and surrounded by original painted portraits and one of the country's rarest tapestries, this is a magical and memorable setting for your wedding celebration.

Ceremony capacity 180.

The Undercroft

The atmospheric vaulted Undercroft is an ideal venue for medium-sized ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening receptions, or makes a perfect choice for a pre ceremony drinks reception when used in conjunction with the Great Hall.

Ceremony capacity 80.

The Drapers' Room

With its decorative ceiling, ornate fireplace and original painted portraits on the walls The Drapers' Room is a light and elegant setting for smaller ceremonies and wedding breakfasts.

Ceremony capacity 40.

Creating the right atmosphere

Each venue has excellent acoustics, and audio facilities for playing recorded music at your ceremony, or we can recommend high quality musicians to perform at your event. We can even make arrangements for bells to be rung from the neighbouring St. Michael's 'old' cathedral to mark your special occasion.

Whilst most couples prefer to hold their full wedding day at St. Mary's Guildhall, our venues are also available for a ceremony only event, with the option of canapes and celebratory drinks afterwards.
