Situated in Coventry's Cathedral Quarter, indulge in the historical ambiance of the city's seat of power and discourse at St Mary's Guildhall. This acclaimed tourist destination, nestled in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, is a remarkable medieval structure that miraculously survived the bombings of World War II. It serves as a poignant reminder of Coventry's historical prominence and affluence. Within the Guildhall, visitors can marvel at the renowned Coventry Tapestry and explore its stunning interiors, offering a captivating glimpse into the fascinating history of Coventry. 

Please note our winter opening hours are Thursday - Sunday 11am, till 4pm (last entrance 3pm.) During specific seasons, we may showcase unique themes for our general standard admission; however, you are still invited to visit the Guildhall as you normally would during this period.

For something a little different, step into the glamour of Gatsby Night or put your detective skills to the test at our Die Hard–themed Murder Mystery evening. All set within one of Coventry’s most iconic historic venues, Christmas at St Mary’s Guildhall is the perfect way to come together, celebrate the season and make the most of the festive period.

  • Workshop Opportunity:Join us for ‘Sugar & Splendour: Crafting Your Own Sugar Plate’ on the 28th and 29th of May. Discover how to create an ornate sugar plate designed to impress guests at grand banquets. Under expert guidance, you'll create your own small sugar plate element which would have formed part of a grand design 
  • Historical Tour: Explore the Guildhall's fascinating history from World War II during our tour on the 24th of May. Learn about the damage it sustained and how it survived, its role as a centre for resistance through anti-war discussions and exhibitions, and its significance in distributing ration books during and after the war.
