Discover St Mary’s Guildhall - Now open to visitors 

Located in Coventry’s historic Cathedral Quarter, immerse yourself in the city’s historical seat of power and debate. 

St Mary's Guildhall, located in the city's historic Cathedral Quarter, astonishingly escaped bombing raids during the Second World War. As one of the only remaining medieval buildings, it still stands as a testament to medieval Coventry's power and wealth. The Guildhall is home to the magnificent Coventry Tapestry, which along with its spectacular interiors, provides a glimpse into the city's fascinating history. 

During the school summer holidays specially-curated family fun living food and feasting history experience days will also be running every Tuesday from the 2nd till 30th August in the newly uncovered Medieval Kitchen – one of the best preserved in the UK and now fully accessible for the first time in just under 100 years. Giving an insight into the daily life of the Guildhall’s working kitchen. Everything from gingerbread, pickles and salads and butter making to cleaning pewters, crystallising flowers and bolting flour for bread will be included as part of the experiences throughout the summer.  On the 11th,18th and 25th August children can also try traditional craft activities in the Drapers room including making a Victorian peg doll, or a Victorian spinning top or having a go at weaving with ribbons.
